POSITION OVERVIEW

The Retail Attendant reports to the Outfitters Manager and is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Outfitters store, ensuring the space reflects the high standards of excellence our guests expect at South Seas. This newly remodeled retail outlet offers a wide variety of apparel, accessories, souvenirs, outdoor gear, and kayak-related merchandise. We are looking for an energetic, guest-focused individual who is passionate about creating exceptional shopping experiences and takes pride in maintaining a welcoming and well-organized environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a team setting, enjoys connecting with people, and brings enthusiasm and positivity to every interaction.

RATE OF PAY full-time, hourly position at $20 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Retail Clerk provides service excellence by acknowledging and welcoming guests entering the retail space (i.e. Outfitters, Provisions, Spirits), showing requested merchandise in display cases, entering guest purchase information into the ticketing system and/or point of sale system, collecting and processing payment and returning applicable change following established procedures. 

REQUIRMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, motor vehicle background check will be completed
  • Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations) (Spirits & Provisions Retail Stores)
  • Must be 18 years old or older to hold this role, serving/selling alcohol in state of FL (Spirits & Provisions Retail Stores)
  • Food Handlers Certification (must comply with State regulations) (Provisions Retail Store)
  • Must be proficient in POS systems, Inventory Management Systems and Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to understanding and clarifying the issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity while under pressure.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift to forty (40) pounds.
  • Work in both an indoor/outdoor environment with the potential for hot temperatures.
  • Ability to work at a computer in an office setting and respond to client inquiries promptly.
  • Must be able to manage stress-related conversations with clients, vendors, and other departments.
  • Attend daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by the General Manager.

HOURS REQUIRED 40 hours a week; flexible schedule; days and times may vary based on need including weekends and/or holidays.
